Delhiites, Check Out These Family Friendly Getaways

If you’re looking for a breather from the hustle of city life, an opportunity to reset over the weekend, then do check out these family-friendly getaways from Delhi! 

 

  1. Sariska, Rajasthan

Sariska Tiger Reserve is a wildlife reserve in Alwar, Rajasthan. You can reach there easily by road, and it’s just the place to get your weekend nature fix, away from the city. Open between October – May and nestled in the Aravalli hills, Sariska is home to a wide range of species of birds and animals, as well as interesting flora. The kids will enjoy this break and the calm setting amidst wildlife. There are several outdoor activities to check out with the kids – apart from the jeep safari, you can visit nearby forts. 

 

 2. Darang Tea Estate, Himachal Pradesh

This charming Darang Tea Estate in Himachal, tucked away close to the Dhauladar range of the Himalayas, has four cottages in a sprawling estate, and is a lovely place to escape to with the family! This vibrant property offers beautiful mountain views from each of its cozy cottages. Head here if you’re looking for a peaceful weekend where you’re in complete zen mode! The kids can have their outdoor fun with treks, visits to nearby attractions, and walks through the private tea gardens!

 

  3. Bharatpur, Rajasthan 

This city in eastern Rajasthan is a great place to visit from Delhi. At one time heavily fortified, the city today has the remains of the Lohagarh Fort at its centre. You can either get a culture and history lesson at the fort and temples close by, or for nature enthusiasts, you can head to the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and appart from being home to a diverse range of birds, also attracts migratory birds like the Siberian Crane!

 

4.Chindi, Himachal Pradesh 

The spectacular Chindi is surrounded by apple orchards, breathtaking views, and good vibes only! If you’re keen to hit the mountains but want to avoid the tourist rush in places like Shimla, then definitely check out Chindi – it’s literally a breath of fresh air! You can either choose to switch off and enjoy the sights and sounds of Chindi, or move around and visit the numerous temples around the area. A trip here will definitely rejuvenate everyone in the family, which will feel especially welcome after long online hours for the kids!

 

  5. Amritsar, Punjab

A trip to the culturally-rich Amritsar is a great weekend getaway from Delhi. Combine some fun learning about heritage and modern history for the kids as they walk through the lanes of this beautiful city. There are the usual tourist sights that are not to be missed like the Golden Temple and the Wagah Border ceremony. For the foodies, this is the ultimate place to be! But apart from that, the Partition Museum is a very interesting insight; try out a bicycle tour of the city, or a fun and informative heritage walk
