“My kid doesn’t sit still while reading,he literally runs away!”, said a worried mum
So, today I am recommending a few things to keep in mind while introducing books to an infants & raising a reader.
I introduced books to my daughter, Yuvisha as early as 5 months, lots of us start at the 3rd month too, but personally I think 5 months is good. The first three months can be to focus on sensory play as their eye sight is still developing.
So coming back to the point, here are the things to keep in mind while introducing books to your little ones:
1)Their eyesight is still developing so choose books with high contrasting colours so that they can differentiate & find colors interesting.
Use books that they can touch & feel so you are simultaneously building their sensory knowledge & their interest towards books. Musical books are great as baby loves different tunes.
2) You can introduce them to, as their first book, some books that are squeezable & made up of fabric. They makes sounds when the baby squeezes them.
3)When you read book, please read in the language which baby understands
In earlier months, a baby doesn’t understand much so you can make sounds like “wee” , “suuu” ,”ooo” . Trust me it sounds funny but they love it.
Now I’ll show the books which I introduced first
Baby Touch : Snuggle cloth Book
This is a foamy, fabric book that makes noise when squeezed. Lovely color combinations, & has touch & feel prominent figures made with satin, fur and different types of fabrics. Must get for babies!
