Speed and Vocabulary Game

This is a great game to improve your teen’s vocabulary and is quite fun and engaging. Reviews tell us that your teen will surely request multiple rounds of this game!  This game is great if you have multiple kids in the house. Divide into two teams and give them a large set of words from A-Z including food, clothing item, countries, etc to work with. Each team lines in front of you, and using a paper and pencil chooses a word that starts with A, their teammate adds a word starting from B, continue till a winning team has completed the entire alphabet group or has written the most words within a given time limit!

Taboo

A great way to practice your teen’s current set of vocabulary, Taboo is a fun game that will keep your teen entertained for hours! To play, you have to communicate a concept or a word without using a specific list of related words. For example, your teen has to make you say the word ‘carrot’ without making you say the words ‘vegetable’ or ‘orange’. Once you guess the word correctly, you switch roles with your teen. You can enlist the help of Google to come up with a list of Taboo words.

Memory and Dictation Game

This game is a winner from the beginning as it helps to practice your teen’s reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills all at once! Prepare for this game by printing out short excerpts from a story or a text and stick them anywhere around the room. You can play this game with this multiple partners and make this a fun family affair! A member of a team reads the lines and rushes over to their team member and dictates what they remember, this tests their memory and also their articulation skills as they try to communicate effectively and also win at the same time within the set time limit. Then the other member of the team runs to the wall and reads the text and the teams work together to place it properly and as accurately as they can. The team who gets the text as close to the original in the least amount of time wins!

Math Game

A fun game that tests your child’s math skills, this game is an all-family affair! You will need a minimum of 4 participants for this. To prepare for this game, you will need a set of math questions that are age-appropriate and a paper and pen to keep score. You need to make sure that the questions you select are clear and easy to understand and that the instructions are not too complex. To make it more interesting, try to involve real-life scenarios.
