Homeschooling in India is still a novel concept as parents in India are very pro-school and classroom training for kids. However, it is worth noting that during the pandemic, we parents have been the primary teachers for our kids these last two years making it a type of home-schooling. This medium of imparting education is quite flexible as parents act as the primary teachers and can inculcate flexibility and diversity in teaching methods that are otherwise not utilized as much in-classroom training. Through homeschooling, students can put their focus on experiential learning and application-focused training and can use the plethora of online resources that are available either on the NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) platform or other online websites and apps. Here are some online platforms for homeschooling in India- 

Khan Academy- Let’s be honest- always trying to produce creative ways to get concepts drilled can be exceedingly difficult. Khan Academy can help you make learning fun and interactive by providing free online and interactive lessons on any subject of focus. These resources are a goldmine for homeschooling in India as kids get access to a plethora of educators who are making learning fun and engaging for students of all ages. Whether your child is a Kindergarten student or is a final year school student, Khan Academy has content for any age group. Another wonderful thing about Khan Academy is that they condense topics into crisp and clear videos ranging from 5 to 12 minutes, overruling the fact that long lectures are always necessary for fundamental concepts. It is a great, free learning resource for students of any age and class. 

TED-Ed- We are all familiar with the inspiring TED Talks and we are sure that all of us have our favorite speaker that has inspired us in the past. This platform also has great engaging educational material for kids and adults as well that can act as supplementary learning resources, especially for primary school children.  On the TED-Ed website, there are resources that provide you with a comprehensive homeschooling curriculum that can help you with your lesson plans and teaching. Plus, through their Youtube channel, they are educating millions of kids about basic biology, physics, history, and other subjects through 5–6-minute short infotainment videos that pack a punch in a short duration. 

NASA For Students- A child’s capability and mesmerizing as the wide unknown and unexplored universe. Space technology and astronomy is a subject that delights many- and NASA for students is a great online platform to inspire and educate budding Astro-physicists and astronauts in the making. On this site, you will have wide access to videos, blogs, podcasts, and games that will capture your child’s attention and interest in topics related to STEM, aeronautics, and space exploration. 

PowerMyLearning- This website is truly a boon in disguise for all homeschooling parents as this platform consists of hundreds and thousands of resources tailor-made for homeschooling. They have free educational videos for any class ranging from kindergarten to class 12, you can find online resources, games, charts, and lesson plans for your child. On this platform, you can also build assignments for your kids and build classes for your homeschoolers. The remarkable thing about this platform is that you get unbridled access to premium quality resources which aligns with the view that everyone should have the right to a superior quality of education. 

XtraMath- Mathematics is a hit-and-miss subject when it comes to students, and it can be a tricky subject for homeschooling. Luckily with the rise of ed-tech platforms, mathematics can be taught efficiently to kids using digital videos and gamification. XtraMath is one such platform that helps build strong foundational concepts for math. It is a great math fluency program that uses worksheets, onsite assignments, and resources to help build better recall of concepts and ease of using mathematical formulas in their day-to-day life. Even if you are not currently homeschooling, you can still use this website as an additional resource for better conceptual clarity.
