With things opening up, it is finally time to take that highly anticipated vacay with the entire fam! There’s nothing more heartwarming than making new memories, exploring new places with our loved ones, and now that it is finally safe to do so, you need to be prepared for everything, especially if you have young children. Taking that first trip together? This makes it even more special! Do keep in mind the essential items that you need in your travel bag, because traveling with young babies, especially for the first time, isn’t an easy task!
From coloring books to sanitary essentials, here’s a checklist with all the travel essentials you need:
Snacks, Snacks, And A Lot Of Snacks- Let’s face it, kids are hungry every time of the day and are quite irritable when they don’t get their fix. Since they are still young, not all snacks on the trip are good for them which is why it is essential that you stock up on some healthy and tasty alternatives for healthy snacking. Make sure to carry a lot of finger food and travel-friendly foods, we recommend a yummy apple and peanut butter dip snack, which is packed with a lot of protein and fiber from the apple and is a great sweet and salty snack for your kids which we know they will enjoy! You can also carry trail mix, cranberries, and makhana as they are healthy and tasty snacks for your kids.
Carry Wet Wipes And Towels- With a lot of munching, comes a lot of mess! Kids spill a lot of times all the time and it is better to be prepared for accidents than not. Make sure you carry a lot of comfortable clothes that can be easily packed in your handbag because going to your suitcase to fetch new ones every time can get quite cumbersome. Have a lot of dry towels and wet wipes ready just in case. Make sure to get alcohol free wet-wipes that are gentle on your child’s skin and do not irritate it.
Stock Up On Appropriate Safety Equipment- Although things are opening one can’t be too complacent with their personal safety, especially when it comes to young kids who touch all kinds of surfaces and love to get their hands dirty. Make sure you carry travel-friendly sanitizers, 3 ply face masks, surface sanitization spray, and anti-bacterial wipes. A first aid kit also comes in handy if you are traveling with your kids on a trek or to a place with adventure sports. Carry some child-friendly cough syrup, and motion-sickness meds if you are planning to have long car rides on the trip.
Carry Craft Supplies- Coming to long travel times, kids will get restless and bored, and when they do, you’ll have to some distractions ready. We often reach for the phone or the iPad to distract the kids, but instead, carry a few coloring books and craft kits that they can easily make on the go. Carry an origami kit, and they will be occupied for hours making origami craft, and the best thing about this is that it is mess-free, keeps them distracted, and in turn improves their finger dexterity! Carry a coloring book too, with some crayons as an easy fix to your kid’s boredom.
Make Sure The Hotel Is Kid-Friendly- One essential tip for young parents is that to ensure a smooth vacation, your kid needs to be happy! When planning the itinerary, make sure you include activities and stay options that are actually kid-friendly. Check with the hotel and enquire about the facilities that they have on the ground for kids. It can be anything ranging from a kid’s play area to a creche, craft room, TV, etc. If they have child-care, that’s great too, as you and your partner can have some well-deserved quality time together! Make sure the hotel also caters to your child’s food choices and taste and has some kid-friendly options in their menus. You can also call your hotel ahead and make arrangements for a cot if your child is comfortable in that!
