This Oscar-winning documentary film about a man who befriends an octopus is a fascinating study into the lives and behaviour of octopi. Even if you don’t particularly enjoy nature documentaries, both you and the children are going to love it!

2. The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

Don’t miss out on this children’s drama based in Malawi. The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind is an award-winning film about a boy who uses  meagre resources to save his village from a drought. This is a motivational film that kids and adults alike will enjoy. It packs a lot of lessons – about leadership and learning, and will also definitely inspire your kids to get involved with STEM activities! 3. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

Tim Burton’s adaptation of Roal Dahl’s much loved children’s classic will leave your child in fits of laughter, and expand their imagination. This visual spectacle of a film is a fun flick. Just be prepared with chocolate (might we recommend creamy and delicious Kinder Joy?), because seeing all that chocolate on screen is going to make everybody hungry for some!

4. Hugo

Hugo is a magical and mysterious film about a boy who lives alone in a clocktower in a train station in Paris in the 1930s, and the friends he makes and the secrets he uncovers. This rollercoaster adventure with a haunting musical score makes it an engaging watch for the whole family!

5. Stardust

Another movie based on a book makes its way to our list, just because of the pure fun and joy in this fantasy story! Follow Tristan as he catches a fallen star – yes, a star! – and has a series of adventures. Bring out the popcorn, turn up the volume, and watch this love story with witches and flying ships and pirates which your children are sure to thoroughly enjoy.
