DIY Cakes: 7 Easy Cakes For Kids To Bake At Home

For your kids that have a sweet tooth, this one’s for you! As parents, we often get caught up between our kid’s wants and their needs. We try to minimize sugar as much as possible, but we give in to their demands every now and then. What if we could be in control of the ingredients, use recipes that are easy to make, and whip up homemade delicacies in no time? We’ve got your back! Pounding For More-  A classic pound cake can be the perfect company to a hot cup of tea or cocoa! Easy, delicious, and nifty- the pound cake is understandably a classic! It is decadent and buttery, and that crumble just melts in your mouth. What’s more, this recipe makes this delicacy easy to bake and you can try making it with your kids. You will need-

450 grams of flour

4 sticks of unsalted butter

2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

9 large room temperature eggs.

This 5 ingredient pound cake is sure to be the centerpiece of your dining table. Combine all the dry ingredients together using a sift. Cream the butter and then add the sugar with a blender, add the dry ingredients to this mixture, bake this in a preheated oven at 160 degrees for 65 minutes and you are good to go!  

 

Chocolate Ganache Extravaganza-A beautiful and equally scrumptious chocolate cake with a souffle content should be on your next bake list. These cakes are ridiculously easy to make and can be a great intro to baking for your young kids. This only uses 6 ingredients that can be found in any kitchen! You need-

340 grams of dark chocolate

1 stick of unsalted butter

2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

5 eggs, ½ cup sugar

½ teaspoon salt.

Melt the chocolate in a glass bowl over a steaming water bath, with the stick of butter. Whisk the just egg yolks into the mixture, and add the cocoa powder. With a mixer, froth the egg whites with the salt, till it reaches medium consistency of froth, and then add the sugar and whisk till the whites have medium to firm peaks. Fold ⅓ rd of the whites with the mixture, and gently keep adding the whites till they are all combined with the chocolate mixture. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees, and butter your cake pan. Then bake this mixture for 40 minutes till they are set, let cool and refrigerate for 4 hours before serving.  

 

Very Vegan Very Chocolate-y- Just because you are vegan, does not mean you can’t have all the fun! You can also enjoy this if you aren’t a vegan, as this is absolutely delicious! This cake has no eggs, but it is filled with the goodness of plant products. You will need-

3 avocados sliced

7 tablespoons of almond butter

½ cup of cacao powder

1 and ½ cups of maple syrup or honey

1 and ½ cups of almond meal

 3 tablespoons of chia seeds.

Sift all the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Using the stand mixer cream the avocados, butter, and maple syrup together until they are combined. Add in the part of the dry ingredients by part and mix well. Then bake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees, and there you have it, an easy vegan cake! 

 

Summer Treat Poppy Cake- The perfect cake to pair with the hot Indian summer, using an unusual ingredient, this poppy cake is easy and has an innovative taste for you to try. You can get a store-bought cake mix, preferably vanilla, and enjoy this at home. Combine this with 150 grams of vanilla pudding mix, 8 egg whites, ¼ cup poppy seeds, 1 cup water, and ½ cup applesauce! Mix all the wet and dry ingredients separately and bake this for 50 minutes. A treat for the hot and sultry summers, you need to try this at home!

Loaded with blueberries, the best way to get antioxidants into your system, this is a delicious way to get your kids to eat healthily. What could be better than dessert for breakfast?! A rich, buttery cake topped with fresh blueberries, this is a cake that will delight all age groups. Make a pound cake using eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and flour, and then top the cake with fresh whipped cream, once it has cooled and added your fresh blueberries, a great way to get your kids to eat fruit without fuss, you have to try this at home! 

 

The Child’s Play Cake-  This 3 ingredient cake is aptly called a child’s play cake. Topped with beautiful chocolate garnish, this cake is as simple as it gets. You will need a 7-inch pan, 350 grams of chocolate cookies, 3 cups when you mesh into a fun powder, 370 grams of milk, and 2 and1/4 tbsp baking powder. That’s it- that’s all you need. Mix all the dry ingredients and then add your milk, once combined bake it for 20-30 minutes at 160 degrees and you will have yourself a ridiculously tasty cake that took you 5 minutes to put together! 

 

The 2 Ingredient Wonder Cake- If you thought 3 ingredients were a lot, we made it even simpler by just narrowing it down to two. Line your baking dish with parchment paper and baste with butter. Chop up 320 grams of fine dark chocolate, and melt over a water bath. Separate 5 large eggs and add one yolk at a time to the chocolate and combine. Beat the egg whites till soft peaks form, and fold them into the chocolate little by little. Bake at 160 degrees for 30 minutes, let it cool and you are set!
