With things gradually opening up, a fun winter vacation awaits! Treat your teens to an activity-filled winter so that they can finally move on from the drudgery of the four walls of their home. Teens, having been confined for the last year and a half will love you for planning an exciting winter for them. We’re talking skiing, hiking, trekking- all winter bucket list ideas for your teens to try this winter!

Trekking- If your teen has a penchant for traveling and exploring, trekking is a great activity for them to try! You can take the entire fam for a rewarding trek experience. Of course, these trails are teen-friendly and don’t require days at a time. Some of the most famous trekking places are minutes away from the metro cities, so this winter if you are looking for a wholesome experience for the entire fam, trekking is a great activity to try. We recommend checking out Devanarayanadurga Hills, Karnataka, 70 km away from Bangalore, which is just one hour of trekking with a fairly easy trail. Also, check out the 3-hour beautiful trail near Ajoba, Maharasthra, about 70 km away from Mumbai. You don’t have to go on arduous treks for your teens to enjoy, even simple treks are fun to experience and definitely should be on your winter bucket list idea for your teen!

Hiking- If trekking seems too intense, hiking is the next best thing! Hiking is walking on long vigorous trails discovering the natural beauty and it can be done near the countryside or hills. If you don’t want to go for something as physically intensive as trekking, hiking is a great alternative if you still want to explore your teen’s adventurous side. Tandulwadi, Mahuli Fort, Naneghat, Karnala Fort, Lohagad Fort are some of the many options outside of Mumbai. Just outside Bangalore, some amazing hiking trails are- Nandi Hills, Makalidurga, Ramanagara, Anthargange- these are some of the many famous names that pop up if you are looking for gorgeous hiking trails away from the city.

Skiing- Although it might not be as publicized, skiing is a great option in India, and is truly a winter bucket idea for your teen! We have some of the most scenic snow-capped hill stations that can rival any international tourist destination, take Gulmarg, or Pahalgam for example. This place is amazing for skiing, with the ephemeral beauty of Kashmir, and the excitement of snow for teens. Solang Nala in Himachal Pradesh is another great skiing destination if you want to try it out for your teen this winter!

Camping- Camping is a great idea for winter, especially if you want to include the entire fam. Camping is a great way to bond with your kids, as the entire fam can huddle together in a tent and enjoy the view, or even share stories over the campfire. It is a fun activity for teens too if they want to go on a camping trail with their friends. It is a great exercise in Independence as they get to build their own tents, make their food, and survive in the wild (under safe conditions of course!).

Bonfire Nights- A cup of hot cocoa, a cozy blanket on your toes, the warm company of friends, an open bonfire, and a chilly evening- sounds like a perfect day! Get your teens to invite a couple of friends over, and host a movie night or game night in the backyard over a bonfire. Your teens will love the experience and will surely have a memorable night with their friends!

Make Christmas Cookies- Cookies are a crowd favorite! During the run-up to Christmas, you can do a Christmas Count Down with your teens by baking different kinds of cookies every day. During the winter, everyone loves to indulge in sweet treats, but a lot of processed sugar is not good for your health. Instead, make healthier homemade versions of the cookies and encourage your teens to make themed ones every day till Christmas. You can also open up a small Christmas cookie stand in your locality for fun!
